Taking a tour in South Korea
South Korea is a haven for the tourist. It has something for everyone. From the frenzy of cities like Seoul to the serene peace and tranquility of the country side to romantic islands, South Korea has it all.
If you are a family on vacation in the country, the most popular packages offered are the 8 days (7 nights) and 11 days (10 nights) long. The one which lasts for 8 days covers most of Seoul, Daegu, Gyeongju and the Busan provinces. Most of the palaces, parks, museums and temples in these regions are covered. Some of the most popular destinations amongst these are the National Museum, Secret Garden & Changdeok Palace, Beopjusa Temple, Royal Tumuli Park and the Unmoonsa Temple. The Chomsongdae Astronmic Observatory is another noteworthy stop in this itinerary. It also includes a tour of the Demilitarized Zone(DMZ). You can avail local Korean food, though most of the hotels also serve an international cuisine. Accommodation is mostly four star. But you have variants available based on your budget.
The 11 day package covers the Gangneung and the Andong provinces as well. Apart from these inclusions, the two are essentially the same packages offering comparable accommodation and food in these added provinces as well.
If you are a couple looking for a get away, the resort islands of Jejudo are perfect. Usual package duration is 4 days. Also known as 'little Hawaii', these islands are picturesque. Thought the local food here is a bit on the saltier side, some of its delicacies are worth trying. It also includes a visit to the hot springs and the Hurshimchung spa in Busan.
If you are a college students looking for a cheap travel mode or a cool holiday spot, then you could either prefer the trekking tour or the educational/historical tour. Jirisan National Park, Yeosu, Jejudo Island and finally back to Seoul. Though not all the distances are not covered on foot, most of them are and for obvious reasons most of the food is eaten in make shift shelter's or motel's on the way. So most of the food will have to packed before hand, though some of the places in the vicinity of a few shelters do provide basic necessities. The educational/historical tour lasts for 7 days, covering the temples, restored palaces and museums all across South Korea.
If you are the lonely traveler, the itinerary is similar to that of the one with a family, the only variation will be there will be a lot more parks and fewer museums so that you can enjoy the numerable hiking trails all over South Korea. Food and accommodation is the same as the one provided along with the family package.
